“Venerable Circle of Life” by Jason McDonald
Sometimes when you wander in the bush you find the most extraordinary pieces of nature. The beautiful light green moss on the twigs and trees, the pom pom-like seeds and nuts all over the ground underneath a tree, and if you’re lucky enough, a feather from a bird. The photographer of this image has not only gathered and captured intricate pieces of the bush but has presented them in such an amazing way. Almost like the circle of life, the image captured my eye within an instant and constantly drew me. A beautiful photographic piece with outstanding design elements.

“The Shape of Land” by Ros Auld
Painstakingly constructed, cleverly combining dramatic balance and proportion, the lizard skin cracked glaze fading to show inspiration from the natural.

Highly Commended – “Creases of the Land” by Annabel Milling
The immediacy of this portrait is totally convincing. There is a psychological aspect here that speaks to the viewer.

Highly Commended – “The Crossing” by Gwendolin Lewis
A sombre depiction bringing back memories of last year’s cataclysmic event. Great composition.

PHOTOGRAPHY JUDGE COMMENTS - JENET STEWART
Highly Commended – “Bobby” by Sonja Breckenridge
This portrait of a working dog is a beautiful image. The detail of every element of the dog is pronounced, even down to the cut on his leg. The tiny light twinkling in his eyes and his faithful smile
is a real winner. The lighting around him is perfectly lit to enhance his shiny coat and extraordinary features. The composition of this image is well done.
Highly Commended – “Push em Up” by Sonja Breckenridge
The dog on the back of the work truck is the perfect country scene. Any day of the week you could pass this place but never stop to photograph it. This photographer did and I’m so glad. I am straightaway drawn to this image, following the road, but then my eyes take a dance all around the image and then back to the truck where the working dog stands. The muscles in his shoulders can be seen – this is such a well composed image, a terrific landscape style with a pop of beautiful yellow canola. An outstanding image.
Highly Commended – “Into the Abyss” by Darren Schiller
I can’t help but wonder what the photographer was standing on to achieve this image. The light on the cliffs’ edges is exceptional. The image makes you feel as if you too could step into it. The texture of the photographic paper this image has been
