ABC Western Plains based in Dubbo broadcasts to a vast area from Wellington north to Goodooga and west from Coonabarabran to Wilcannia. This includes Dubbo City and the towns of Bourke, Cobar, Nyngan, Walgett, Mudgee, Lightning Ridge, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Warren and of course Dunedoo.
It also provides local programs, news, rural and community information to the Western Division as well as isolated communities via satellite including Ivanhoe, Menindee, Talbingo, Khancoban and even Norfolk Island.
ABC Western Plains began operating in 1993 taking over the Western region previously covered from Orange by ABC Central West.
In 2008 the station gained full regional status which saw the establishment of a local morning show. Local programs now run from 6am to 11am Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings until 10am.
