The event presented by Dunedoo Lions Club and run by a community committee has secured impressive sponsors.
More than $11,000 worth of prizes will be distributed this year across the categories of hanging art, photography and ceramics with winners of the three categories each receiving $3000.
This week the committee announced that the $3000 prize for hanging art would be provided by Peabody Wilpinjong Mudgee mine and the $3000 prize for photography by large-scale solar power developer, ib vogt.
Committee spokeswoman Penny Stevens said Peabody Wilpinjong had committed to funding the $3000 hanging art prize for the next three years.
“Peabody Energy is the world’s largest private sector coal company and a Fortune 500 company,” she said.
“The company serves metallurgical and thermal coal customers in 25 countries on six continents. The company’s Wilpinjong mine, near Mudgee, follows the company’s philosophy of supporting local community-based organisations and activities.”
Ms Stevens said Ib vogt, sponsor of the photography prize, had been focusing on the development of solar power plants in the United Kingdom, Germany, Southeast Asia and India since 2009.
Now operating in Australia, ib vogt focused on tailor-made solar power plant solutions that maximised lifecycle performances, she said.
Other sponsors acknowledged by the committee include Dunedoo Rural Hardware that this year will be funding the $500 People’s Choice Prize.
“The $500 Indigenous Artist Prize will be provided by Orana Arts for the seventh consecutive year,” Ms Stevens said. “ABC Western Plains will also continue to provide a prize for a work that best depicts the western region, and the Janace Holmes Family Memorial Prize will once again be awarded to a work chosen by the family of the late Janace Holmes.”
